Who we are:
Nadia Herb BSC.OT (Hons), SIPT certified
Nadia is a wife, mother and pediatric Occupational Therapist with a specialization and passion for Sensory Integrative Dysfunction and Dyspraxia. Nadia has worked as part of the kidsFIRST medical center family for 5 years after moving from South Africa where she qualified as an Occupational Therapist. Nadia enjoys working with children across a broad range of areas and recently completed the SIPT certification program through the University of Southern California.
Nadia’s favorite equipment piece to use in therapy sessions is the trapeze swing. She enjoys its versatility in supporting shoulder girdle and upper limb strength (which are essential for writing based skills), its ability to develop both vestibular and proprioceptive processing, (two fundamental areas for Sensory Motor development and Motor Planning) and finds children enjoy it best when combining it with bean bags to drop, rollers to swing over or crash mats to land on.
Nannette Wicker BA MA MOT SIPT certified
Nannette is a wife, mother of three children, and pediatric Occupational Therapist specializing in Sensory Integration and Dyspraxia. She was the first SIPT certified practitioner in the Middle East and her passion for helping children has led to her career as the Founder and Executive Director of kidsFIRST Medical Center in the UAE.
Nannette’s favorite piece of equipment is the platform swing. A swing that is versatile working on balance and coordination in multiple planes of movement as well as accommodating different positions. It’s exciting for kids as it can be a boat or a train, or a surfboard while working on vestibular and proprioceptive input.
